Intergroup level number of people are interacting. Categorization is one of the fundamental cognitive processes in human. When we group things together based on some categories, objectivity. Categorization is the lumping together of objects and events into meaningful groupings (brewer & miller, 1996). Considered the most basic aspect of human thinking. We all categorize, the way we talk, the way we think, the way we perceive other people. Social categorization is classification of people into groups based on common attributes. We come up with the attributes difference between social and natural. When we cannot tell gender apart it makes us uncomfortable gender is the first social category that we notice about anyone. Major social categorizations are: gender, ethnicity, age. After categories are formed, there is a tendency to exaggerate the difference between two categoris: doise, deschamps, and meyer (1978) Tajfel et al. (1971) experiment on minimal group paradigm: Boys were allocated to two meaningless groups (preference for two abstract artists!)
