Document Summary
Stereotype is the belief you have about a certain group. Prejudice is an attitude you have toward a group. Prejudice is a negative attitude toward a socially defined group and toward any person perceived to be a member of that group (ashmore, p. 253) Is an intergroup phenomenon, rather than an individual prejudice toward one person based on their individual characteristics. Good way of studying prejudice is a survey. Discrimination is a behaviour based on the previous two. Problem with them is that people lie; they lie because they don"t want have people know that they hold prejudices toward specific group. Prejudice is declining; our generation is less prejudiced than the generation before us. When we are prejudices toward someone, we don"t make eye contact, we make speech errors, we do not include them. Rely on non verbal and indirect measure like body language and speech indicators. Looking at how one phrases their statements is a good indication.
