Some myths are philosophical and attempt to explain the origin and phenomenon of the cosmos: hesiod. Greek philosophy developed from an attempt of eastern greeks (ionian coast) to understand the origins and composition of the cosmos beyond what poets attempted. Socrates so overshadowed the start of greek philosophy that little survives from the earlier philosophers. Solids, liquids, and vapors are all different states of water and matter. As vapour gets thinner and thinner, water becomes air and even fire. Earth itself solidified from water and floated on it like wood. Seed made up of hot and cold elements that split off. Fire issued forth, surrounding the remnant (earth) in rings (hallow filled with fire that can be seen from earth from holes in ring) Earth at centre of the cosmos and does not fall from its place because its at the exact centre.
