Kin is now a regulated profession and this is what the context of today"s lecture is. The evolution of medicine started out as more of clinical art, was not much of a profession: as the art developed scientists provided a foundation, started as a profession and developed the discipline, kinesiology was the opposite. Kin started as a scientific based discipline, and then out of that a profession evolved. As kin became a profession it was recognized by the government and became a component of the regulated health professions act (rhpa) Just like law and medicine, one must write a clinical kinesiology exam. There are 2 bodies that dictate/govern how you behave: college of kinesiology. Their mandate is not to serve you but to protect the public. They have a list of laws that govern your behaviours of practice. They have an enforcement element for those who choose to violate the laws of kinesiology practice: ontario kinesiology association (oka)
