Rawls think that instead of asking individuals to treat others well, we need to ask groups of people to join, discuss and form government states. These groups of people will create a social contract. They will make the rules and agree that the rules are just. Social contract theory: if you connect with a group of people, then you will feel moral obligaions towards them. This social contract may or may not be absolutely just even if the mass thinks it is. In addiion, some people may not know the contract was formed and some are born into it so they have no say. Abstract social contract theory: this contract is formed by you through thought experiments as you try to ind what is just.
