Document Summary
Perception: process by which individuals organize and interpret their impressions in order to give meaning to their environment people"s behavior is affected by how they perceive the world. Always consider expectations: expect police officers to be formal, responsible, helpful, honest etc. if that didn"t happen, it would stick out in your mind. Attribution theory: how we judge people differently depending on whether it is internally or externally caused. Selective perception we have to make sense of the world. E. g. if you want to buy a blue honda, now that you"re thinking of buying one, you will notice them everywhere as it is now relevant in our mind. Halo effect drawing a general impression on the basis of a single characteristic. E. g. in north america, the more articulate you speak, the smarter you are, in asia, it"s the other way around.
