The european imperial expansion is recorded to occur between the 19th and the 20th century. Technological advancement is believed to be the factor that has allowed britain, primarily, followed by other european countries to join the race for power in expanding their political boundaries. By widening their political boundaries as much as they can, these european countries were able to serve their interest in strengthening their economic powers. The effort of expanding their political boundaries could occur by force or by means that only appear to be helping the colonized countries. This is observed in jules ferry"s speech that asserted that the superior race have the duty to civilize the inferior races (kinney). However, the european countries" true intention was finally revealed from the ways they governed the colonized countries. For example, in malaysia, before the country gained its independence, it used to be colonized by the british.
