Document Summary
2 goals: control misbehaviour by role modelling, teach academic and social skills. Focus on external control of behaviour over academic/social skills needed also. 2 methods for better behaviour: classroom behaviour chart, positive peer review. Effective instructions for academic/social skills can help too but not enough on its own. Ex. student involvement in lessons or pair/group activities. Ebds can have diverse issues and in different environments. Illegal actives: drugs, can"t find and hold a job, affecting different relationships: family, peers, teachers. Strategies include: systematic, data-based interventions, continuous assessment that monitors progress, time to practice new skills, use of a variety of treatments (matched to specific problems), training to apply learning in other situations (and maintenance), commitment to prolong intervention. Severe disorders often justify placement in specialized environments. The continuum of placements (i. e. , alternative placements) plays a significant role in decision-making regarding placements. Placements determined on individual basis; program of education and other services also to be determined.
