Selecion is the process of choosing individuals who have the relevant qualiicaions to ill exising or projected job openings. Idenify the individual competencies employees need for success the knowledge, skills, abiliies, and other factors that lead to superior performance. Manager use selecion methods such as interviews, references, and preemployment tests to measure applicant ksao against the competencies required for the job. The number of steps in the selecion process and their sequences will vary not only with the organizaion but also with the type and level of jobs to be illed. Reliability: the degree to which interviews, tests and other selecion procedures yield comparable data over ime, reliability also refers to the extent to which two or more methods yield similar results or are consistent. Validity: the degree to which a test or selecion procedure measures a person"s atributes. The selecion process should be able to predict how well a person performs on the job.
