We can be placed in many classes depending on the situation (i. e. i can own a jaguar but be a mechanic however i know how to x it ) Meritocracy is a hierarchical ranking and reward system in which an individual"s demonstrated performance determines where s/he will be situated in in the existing hierarchy (text, p. 65) More simply, it is a merit based system that rewards individuals for their achievements within the system: you are rewarded for your achievements. It requires even playing eld": requires both in order to be a meritocracy. Equality of opportunity simply means each person has the same opportunity to participate; it must equally available for everyone. Equality of condition means that everyone participates under the same conditions.
