Atp is needed in unbinding of myosin and acin, and to pump calcium back into sr. Calcium ions bind with troponin, liting tropomyosin molecules of the acive sites on the acin ilament. The myosin head binds to the acive acin site. Binding of myosin & acin release pi: myosin head pivots and pulls thin ilament along with it: power stroke. Atp binds to atpase site and decreases ainity of myosin for acin. A muscle iber can be on or of (no in between) Efects of high simulus frequency: summaion and tetanus. Complete tetanus: maximum tension muscle iber can produce. If muscle is simulated when faigued, the tension coninues to rise. You can get fused tetanus at a lower frequency. Motor unit: always some muscle tension to keep human body in same posiion. Normal muscle contracions are smooth, not jerky simulated to complete tetanus. Total force exerted by a muscle is dependent upon the number of muscle ibers acivated.
