Document Summary

They never solve the problem of fertilizing eggs outside of the water hence always have to return to water to lay eggs. Never solved the ability to respire on land with out moisture. One of the biggest modi cation is to be able to support the body on land. In the water the body is buoyant and the water helps support it. Vetebrae develop extensions (zygapophysis, daipophysis, etc) of bone in all directions to reinforce the vertebral disks from slipping past each other. There is a cervical vertebrae in the neck, the sacral one in the pelvic region. These are highly specialized for articulation involved in connection bone. They do not have uncoupled respiration hence cannot take in fresh air while walking. Also need to expend energy to hold the body up while moving. Hoping locomotion means they do not have to do the lling and compressing of one lung then the other while moving.
