CLA 2101 Lecture 3: Lect. 3 - Neolithic and Early Bronze Age of Mainland Greece
Document Summary
Neolithic and early bronze age of mainland greece. Evans called knossos the palace of minos so the people were considered the minoans. They are divided because each of the areas develops in different way. Greece is not a unified country at any point. It was always a bunch of separate areas/states. They didn"t have a permanent place to stay. Farmers, unlike hunter-gatherers, stayed in one place where communities were built. They didn"t just grow grains and have animals on their farm. They hunted too so they could get fresh animal. This marks the beginning of farming because animals were being used for other things than just food. Everyone is pretty much equal between families since everything is done together. By the end of the neolithic, hierarchy becomes present in communities. Some families have lots of land and some have less. This causes problems later in athens and sparta.
