Power is the ability of one person to in uence what another person thinks or does. Some people are more powerful than others. Power follows the principle of less interest. In any interpersonal relationship, the person who holds the power is the one less interested in and less dependent on the rewards and punishments controlled by the other person. Power in uences what you do, when you do it, and with whom. An interpersonal relationship is the relationship between people that is more personal and closer. Cultures differ in the amount of power that exists between people and in the attitudes that people have about power. There is a greater power distance between men and women in. The power over others when they believe you have the right to in uence or control their behaviour because you have a position, for example in the workplace or a parent.
