Conceptualize as a sense of belonging: shared values, like mindedness, in general, in order to feel that way, there are certain behaviours that are labelled our of place. Today, we look will look at how we regulate those public spaces: the behaviour is anti-social transgressing norms but also those behaviours that present a threat or danger, not civil. Space is a mechanism that yields power. End up governing people through tactics that are used to govern space: will prevent people from doing stu through the space. Ex: putting spikes in the corners of buildings prevents homeless people and skateboarders from being there. Singular ideas of who"s behaviour is legitimate meaning that they are able to consume. Ex: new upscale neighbourhoods they are designed in order to have people consume from them but also live there: those who can"t consume, won"t go to those places since they are excluded.
