Federal government paid nfld/la to deliver services (education/health) Inhalant abuse was rampant - 47 children were chronic abusers (some as young as 5). It was a cheap way to get high and there was nothing else to do: the government was looking at getting rid of the addictiveness of the gasoline because of this but it was too expensive. In 1992, 6 unattended children died in a fire: their parents were gone to a dance and were drinking, 1991 - one quarter of adults attempted suicide, 1973-1995: 465 alcohol related deaths. Displacement #3: the move from illuikoyak island to natuashish, 2002-2003: 680 people left davis inlet and moved into the new community of natuashish - on their own volition, the same problems followed them (social problems)
