Conditioning paradigms, rewards/punishements, scientific nature of experimental evidence. Bf skinner considers it respondent conditioning (behavior elicited by preceding stimuli) Behaviorism (j watson): human behavior must be studied objectively (no innateness and instinct) Classical conditioning theory: used for all learning; process of conditioning creates an array of stimulus-response connections; complex behaviors learned thru series of responses learned. Law of effect (thorndike): stimuli occurred after behavior had an influence on future behaviors. Neobehaviorism (bf skinner): unique dimension to behavioristic psych; operant conditioning. Operants: acts emitted with no observable stimulus, governed by consequences produced. Reinforcers: the event/stimuli following response strengthen/increase probability of recurrence of response. Punishments: disadvantage of both punished and punisher; absence of reinforce or aversive stimulus. Misses neurological processes of acquiring complex skills, intel development, ability to think logically/abstractedly, creativity.
