New wars - entering a period where there is a new form of violence - not about soldiers fighting soldiers anymore - more so thugs and terrorist groups raping, killing and torturing civilians. The amount of violence and people killed snce 1941 has gone down though. The absolute number of active violence conflict shad fallen from its peak level - since the cold war - less soldiers being killed; despite that we think we are in peak violence . The majority of the conflict is between ordinary people fighting. Its more so about the individual - ex rowans: the goal was to kill the majority in order to scare the minority - less soldiers dying buts it way more unstable for the war. What we are trying to understand this week.
