Aesthetics: a set of principles and also a branch of philosophy concerned with the nature of beauty, especially in art and artistic taste. Allegory: the simplest form of symbolic interpretation, in which each thing in the story represents one concept: there"s a one-to-one correspondence between literal things in the story and their symbolic message. Allegorical meanings stays fixed and clear and never changes. Catharsis: something that prompts us to react with immense emotion; psychologically, our emotions are stimulated by something which can lead to emotional vomit , followed by an immense release. It is used to relieve tension and anxiety by bringing repressed material to surface consciousness. Aristotle in particular believed it is experienced in response to art when the feelings of pity and fear are stimulated to such an extent that there is a purging or a release of these negative emotions in the viewer.
