Maclennan is showing that blindly (sheep-like actions) fight for king and country when in reality the leaders are fighting for power and greed is not right. A romantic idea of fighting for your country. Overall the book is fairly realistic but. Too convenient that wain dies in the explosion. Too convenient that neil is the one that discovers wain"s body. Too convenient that alex lives long enough to sign the affidavid. Murray is struggling with his irrational / rational of his mind. He steps aside even though he loves penny.
