Pure is a great world to challenge contemporaries on the role of women: this is what"s faked for her. Clares are educated, but not with limitless wealth: class confusion with 3 main characters. Tess with high class lineage is a farm girl. Talbothays was the best fit for tess. 138 sensual all senses are engaged. But not beautiful, even though it"s natural: indifferent towards all creatures, landscape becomes character. Hardy is sympathetic to tess" issues, narrator isn"t. Nature doesn"t have interest in what we"re doing: but it"s a very important force in novel. Overwhelming sense of unfairness doesn"t even say that we"ll be redeemed in heaven. She just suffers because she"s fated to suffer.
