S4 his heart has grown old contrast with their changelessness. S5 they"ll be there long after he"s gone: youth: forever passing, forever renewed. Soul fastened to dying animal, but pattern doesn"t change. Easter 1916 sacrifice and resurrection ambiguity. Working on vision and theories poetry more speculative. 1 of group of poems talking about change. Published early in another booklet, didn"t publish under his name until the easter rising fury had died down. Antithesis, pre and post uprising: stately but troubled. 24/4/16 structured date of rising into poem.
