Many layers to fight off the winter cold. Many layers or walls to protect her secret. Spring is an untrustworthy season because of the constant fluctuations. Consistent weather makes it easier to divulge her secret. Poem about a woman that became a goddess. The earthly offering are nothing compared to her. He"s sick of poetry (apollo is hard to follow ) Gods are dethroned when people stop believing in them. The power that the gods have is determined by the faith that people have in them. Lots of human suffering when gods are powerful. The world is now much less rich. Idea that women play a key role for humanity. She represents the rebirth of her world . Full of contradictions between pagan and christian views. Audacious poem because of its anti-christian views. Lots of controversy when this poem was published because it was publicly. Pointed out the hypocrisy of the church"s views/stances.
