What is the significance of the phrase ain"t i a women in sojourner truths. Truth (1795-1883) was born into slavery in new york state & emancipated in 1827. Identified with the feminist cause form the early years of the americans women movement and attended the first national woman"s rights convention in worcester, Truth to be present & begged the chairman not to let her speak; some men were in attendance and also did not want ms. The men were oppose to granting women freedom and privileges: sojourner truth speech was beyond captivating and said to be magical". A native woman is expressing how she felt about feminism in a world that brought her pain and confusion. She wasn"t able to identify herself as a woman or as a native. She felt so objectified and didn"t know where she belonged. She states that native women are non-existent and denied her own womanhood. White males and females have oppressed her people.
