Human smuggling is where you pay someone to smuggle you into a country illegally. It is often used interchangeably with human traf cking but they are different crimes. Victims can be threatened directly or their families are threatened. You see human traf cking a lot around a live-in nanny. You don"t actually need to move a person in order to traf c them. Un gift is a section of the un that looks at human traf cking. Canada is all three (source, transit, and destination) This is a gender based crime (predominantly found women) Human traf cking is second only to the arms trade, it is a large problem in canada. Increasingly recruitment is done over social media and house parties. Transportation is not about moving them so much as it is about isolating them from their social and support network (friends and family)
