Document Summary
Mat1339 - lecture 18 - vectors dot product. We have learned to add, subtract and multiply scalars with vectors but what about multiplying vectors with other vectors. The dot product is a method used for this. Side-notes: the product of vectors is a scalar. Scalars are only numbers which means that you do not graph them. The dot product only works with two vectors. If you try to multiply three, the answer is invalid or undefined. Example: than 90 degrees would be acute and more would be obtuse. Side-notes: the dot product is a measure to how close vectors are to being parallel. It is applicable in data science and computer graphics. Any vector can be turned into a unit vector. Projection: is the shadow that a vector would cast onto another. The dot product tells us how to project vectors. w v.
