If we think we are hearing something we think we agree with, we become less critical and tend to automatically accept it. Exm: listening to someone who is a member of a political party we agree with. Feel a sort of compulsion to agree with something just because everyone around us agrees with it. Can work when we think that is what everyone likes. Exm: one direction marketing as popular without a record. Exm: marketing items as popular and best sellers . We tend to give more importance to negative information. Exm: 2 murders, town is filled with murders . We begin to see the bad things in life due to a few, isolated cases. Far more rigid in our beliefs when we begin to think we are going to lose something we already have.
