What is management control: one of the 4 functions of management. Mockler: management control is a systematic effort to set: To compare actual performance with these predetermined standards. Taking corrective actions to achieve organizational goals. Three kinds of organizational control: bureaucratic control. This form of control structures work activities through a hierarchical division of positions assigning to each specific tasks, responsibilities, and a level of authority. Recommended when the tasks are routine and the external environment is relatively stable: clan control. This form of control structures employee behaviour through a system of shared goals, values, and traditions. Recommended for non-routine tasks and unstable environment: concertive control. This form of control works through the pressure of peers in self-managed teams. It works for both routine and non-routine tasks, and in both stable and unstable environments. The ethics of control: the main question: Is controlling employees morally right: maguire"s approach: He offers a review of different theories of managerial control of employees.
