Women as a group: a shared identity, contexts where disadvantaged groups may gain from representation that described them (ex: obama as the first african-american president, women may benefit from this description. 2015-03-02: where the interests of that group remain under-realized, where there"s a history of political subordination, and not much legitimacy is conferred upon people from those groups, women"s media center. A critical mass could help achieve this, but critical acts are necessary as well (policy platforms aimed at challenging stereotypes and sexism).
