Who coined the term: operant conditioning is when we learn to associate a behaviour with its consequences, if you do x it will =y, skinning coined the term, law of effect is important in operant conditioning. It states that behaviours are shaped and controlled by their consequences. When behaviour is likely to produce a positive outcome, it is more likely to occur and vice versa. Any consequence that is going to make the behaviour more likely to repeat. If confused between both, ask: would a baby care about this? and if yes, then it"s primary. When we do a behaviour that will lead us to getting something we want. ex; when lifting weights, we gain muscles. When we do a behaviour that will lead us get rid of something annoying. ex; when we shower, we get rid of our smelliness, so we are more likely to shower.
