Intelligence tests are a series of quesions and other exercises which atempt to assess people"s mental abiliies in a way that generates a numerical score, so that one person can be compared to another. The ability to learn from experience, solve problems, and use knowledge to adapt to new situaions. Charles spearman (1863-1945) - performed a factor analysis of diferent skills and found that people who did well in one area also did well in another, and therefore had a high general intelligence. Disagreed with the idea of one general measure and trait of overall intelligence. Thurstone found that the result of 56 skill tests fell into 7 clusters. Strong in one cluster, strong in other clusters. Savant syndrome - having isolated islands of high ability amidst a sea of below-average cogniive and social funcioning. Noted that diferent people have intelligence/ability in diferent areas. Research and factor analysis suggests that there may be a correlaion among these intelligences: naturalist.
