Intergroup relations: the way in which people in groups perceive, think about, feel about, and act towards people in other groups. Members of that group don"t necessarily know they"re in that group based on your own perceptions (ex. Early crowd research suggested that three characteristic are associated with the processes that seem to be speci c to crowds. Anonymity: people in a crowd become anonymous and are therefore less responsible for their actions. Suggestibility: when people"s social contraptions are loosened, they become more suggestive. Contagion: the irrationality and acts of violence are contagious and sweep through the crowd. Early theories suggested that crowds drove people to be mad or that it drove them to be bad . Ie. one not being held responsible: decrease in self-awareness: i. e. one being less focused on whether his/her behaviour matches social norms and values.
