Humans can spend their whole lives looking for the meaning of their lives. Finding meaning in death is even more diicult. Society has insituionalized the importance of religion by creaing such rituals as the funeral. Some experts believe religion funcions to relieve anxiety o o. Other experts say that relig indeed increases fear (hell, etc. ) Live for the now, because its important to live life because its over when you"re dead. Relig insituions give paricipants a death anxiety that unites the members in a common concern. To be viable these insituions must provide anxiety reducion - done w the aterlife concept. Ppl tend to reject a belief in the aterlife. Tend to believe that death is the end. Focus on the needs and concerns of the survivors.
