Video: everything becomes sad, clinician went through all symptoms of depression with client, client had hard time making eye contact, looked tired and sad, lots of self-criticism. Major depressive episode: must have 5 symptoms in total, must have one or both of. Depressed mood or diminished interest and pleasure: weight loss/gain or appetite increase/decrease, psychomotor agitation/retardation. Insomnia/hypersomnia: fatigue/loss of energy, worthlessness/excessive guilt, difficulty concentration/making decisions, recurrent suicidality. Attempts, thoughts, passive thoughts: 2 weeks, most of the day, nearly every day, not caused by anything else, must cause impairment or distress. Video 2: overwhelming rate and content of speech, rarely sleep; don"t need it, solving cancer based on newspaper articles, felt really good about himself. Must have elevated, expansive, or irritable mood and increased goal-directed activity or energy: 3 of the following (or 4 if we only see irritable mood) Decreased need for sleep (different from insomnia)
