Qualitative research (e. g. , survey research) can be inductive in some cases: hypothesis and theories may not emerge until after the data have been gathered. Becoming more common: methods are seen as simply a technique of data collection, easier to collect and process data with new technology. Must be appropriate for the research questions asked: more is not necessarily better. Multiple methods likely take more time and money: spreading resources too thinly can dilute the e ectiveness of the research. Di erent skills and training required: trained incapacities" may prevent integrating both methods, graduates from masters programs in social sciences need to know how to conduct research. A combination of which research methods is used in this documentary: qualitative and interpretivist, focus groups, quantitative measures.
