Document Summary
10/12/16 (8) the approach and methods of psychosocial research. Models used in psychosocial research on religion and health. Causal models used in psychosocial research posit certain types of pathways to explain relationships between religion and health: psychological, social, behavioural, genetic, and biological. Physical health can be measured and reported through diagnostic tests such as blood work, fitness, body scans, and x-rays. The ability to measure this produces outcome measures. The immune, endocrine, and cardiovascular functions can contribute to keeping someone healthy. In the example above, cd4 count is an expression of the immune system function. There are behavioural aspects that can affect health: decisions, lifestyle choices, health behaviours, screening, and compliance. Genetics, developmental experience, and personality affect health as well. Positive emotions have a positive effect on health and negative emotions have a negative effect on health. If you wanted to know about someone"s social connectedness you would ask questions like do you have friends?".
