What do we require of hypotheses? characterises to offspring: innate drive towards complexity, it has to be testable, need quantitative results, must be able to replicate experiment, it has to be falsifiable. Is the innate drive to complexity hypothesis testable: no. Descent with modification is testable and has support: organism change over time and generations, adapt to environment, ex. Darwin never though they would be a good example. Not observed in detail: refer to slide 7. Single cell organisms are less complex then multi-cellular.
