When we think about the influences of media messages have on all of us and how that meaning is carefully constructed. This is encoding (stuart hall): how we construct meaning into our communication. We have to know how media is deconstructed (decoded). We expect the reader to get what we put out there. The brain helps us by filtering out certain sounds. Coping mechanism is to filter, but it is not always possible. The non referential use of language to share feelings or establish a mood of sociability . When we are presented with facts, it might not be the full story. Before staking your claim, try to see the whole picture. You just try to get a sense of what it is about.
