Baby bust and echo occurs when the babies from the baby boomers become child bearing and start having children themselves. People are having fewer babies and living longer. Women tend to do more work around the home. Feminization of poverty: since women are living longer, people feel that women are beginning to experience more poverty than men. Programming: need more social and medical programming for those aging population. Urban social affects of a population: higher accident rates. If you have an aging population, you have a shrinking workforce and a shrinking tax base. To increase spending we need to increase pensions. In northwest territories, there are more aboriginal peoples. Looking at the population pyramid, we can see that the population in these territories have many young people and not many old people. Phase 1: colonial cities were controlled by british/french, cities were established to collect stuff and send it back to motherland.
