Failure to remember things before age 2, infantile amnesia. Autobiographical memory refers to people"s memories of the significant events and experiences of their own lives. Self-concept: children recognize that they exist independently across time and space (age 1-2) Language: as we acquire language, our subjective sense of experiences transitions. When we have acquired this language based method of memory, we lose the perceptual sense of memory. Parent-child conversation styles: mothers who are engaging their children in events more often, raise children with better recall ability of those events. There may be distortions in children"s memories when they are trying to remember what others suggest, especially if the person has authority. By asking a question in a leading sort of manner, they are planting a memory in the child"s memory. In the control condition, children were less likely to say that sam.
