The markers of a qualitative interview: how is it different than a regular conversation, the questions are more based on the goals that the interviewer is trying to reach at. Sampling- snowball and purposive sampling is used: qualitative interviewing is used for hidden populations through snowball referral based on previous subject, how many people to interview- continues to interview until they reach theoretical saturation. Incentives- the remuneration given to research participants, often in the form of cash (must be something they can use, if they used the entire community, the prize would be something that everyone can enjoy collectively. Interview sites- often done in the participant"s home for their comfort. Selective transcribing- only the parts of the interviews that the researcher deems important is transcribed: but fully transcribed is the best means of ensuring that the findings are dependable. Informants- a member with whom the researcher tells about the aspects of the research setting.
