What is meant by tree of life? . Biology is the scientific study of life. Life can be described as alive vs. non-alive. E. g. plants, humans, vs. desk, chair, virus. How is all life on earth related: the theory of evolution by natural selection: All species past and present can trace it back to a single common ancestry: the cell theory: Diversity and unity of life through evolution: diversity of life- evolution. Charles darwin"s theory of evolution of natural selection is a unifying framework. All organisms capable of reproduction involving duplication of genetic material with potential errors. Positive consequences allows to change/adapt to environmental conditions. Results in biological evolution through natural selection: unity of life-evolution. All organisms have two part science name: genus, species (italics) Tree of life represents the phylogeny of organisms.
