Document Summary
Similarity: have same atom, and same chemicals. Diference: life is organized - not a random subset of its environment. Condiions that must be met for something to be alive Display order: all life forms are arranged in a highly ordered manner with the cell. Cell is the basic unit of life (cell theory) They have internal environments that are separate and disinct from their surroundings. Separaion allows: process essenial to life, and creaion of specialized internal environments. Harness & uilize energy: life forms acquire energy from the environment and then use it to maintain their highly ordered state. Basically it means, in order to keep the outside from the inside it requires the use of energy. To maintain the cohesion of these life forms that are diferent internally from externally requires the use of energy. They have to extract their energy from their environment and then use it to maintain their internal cohesion or their disinciveness.
