Document Summary

We assume most of the times that all plants are autotrophs, making their own organic carbon molecules from the atmospheric co2 and sunlight . Monotropa uniflora is a heterotrophic plant that lacks chlorophyll known as ghost flower or indian pipe , therefore cannot photosynthesize. Some plants, such as monotropa, are completely heterotrophic, as they live off of organic carbon that is obtained from other plants. Eukaryotic (dna enclosed in membrane bound nucleus also includes fungi, animals, and protists) Cell walls (animal cells do not have cell walls) Unlike animals, plants also have two multicellular stages in their lifecycle. Plant bodies are dendritic ( tree-like ) (spreading and branched in form) Both the root and shoot systems consist of various organs and tissues. Tissue: group of cells and intercellular substances that function together in one or more specialized tasks (e. g. epidermal, vascular)
