Document Summary

Electrical signals are initiated at the dendrites of the neuron: the electrical signals are carried by dendrites to the cell body. There are multiple dendrites on a single neuron. So there could be electrical signals being originated at all different kinds of locations on this neuron. All the electrical signals that are initiated can be transmitted to the cell bodies: the cell body is the site of integration for all the electrical info, the axon hillock is the major integration region of the neuron. Integration is important b/c there are many electrical signals being brought to the cell body of the neuron. Neurons only have one axon so neurons can only generate their own electrical signal that they can conduct along the length of the axon to other neurons or they wont conduct the signal. Between neurons, nerve impulse transmission is via chemical transmission. It measures voltage and it is the extent to which charges are being separated.
