Document Summary

Module 1. 1: the science of psychology: we often make inferences about another person based on the different cues provided to us. These puzzles have led to researchers to develop a new line of research, cyber emotional intelligence, that exams the assumption that we make about people based on their online personalities. Psychology is a vast discipline; it is more wise to classify it to be a collection of disciplines composed of many overlapping fields of studying. Scientific thinking and procedures revolve around the concepts of a hypothesis and theory which guide the process and progress of the sciences: hypothesis (plural hypotheses): is a testable prediction about processes that can be observed and measured. It can be supported or rejected, you cannot prove a hypothesis. A scientific hypothesis must be testable: theories: is an explanation for a broad range of observations that also generates new hypotheses and integrates numerous findings into a coherent whole.
