Document Summary

Set up end-to-end connection using 1 link for each hop (each link is a physical wire and is considered one hop) Two kinds: frequency division multiplexing (fdm) and time division multiplexing (tdm) Each link dedicates a frequency rate for each connection. For example, a telephone line has frequency band of 4 khz. Fm radio stations use frequency"s between 88 mhz and 108 mhz, with each station having their own allocated frequency (like how kiss 92. 5 is on. 92. 5 mhz and no other station can use that besides them) Time is divided into frames of fixed duration, and each frame is divided into a fixed number of time slots. When network establishes a connection across a link, the network dedicates one time slot in every frame to this connection. [ 1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4, ] each number represents a connection. All connection get an equal about of time to use the link.
