If you have some contaminants normally chemicals and you have a receptor( humans) and there are some pathways like dermal, inhalation etc, these three paradigms are not connected so there is no risk. But if these three are related then there is a risk for something: phase i evaluate all available documents. If the site is contaminated, air, ground water etc. and find what we don"t know based on the previous knowledge of the site. Interpret the data, understand the data and see if something has to be done and how quickly it has to be done. If something has to be done then goes phase 3: phase iii two potential options. Risk assessment is in this phase but there are different types of risk assessments. The one on the slide is the risk assessment that might be performed before remediation which means removal or destroy the chemicals in an environmental compartment that is contaminated.
