Moist air, fog, unusually cold for that area (-1 degrees c), stagnant air ( not much wind to disperse pollutants). During this week, people choked on sulphur dioxide. Industry significantly contributed to this effect, including heating of homes. About 4000 people died due to adverse effect of sulphur dioxide and other particulate matter. After this landmark moment in london, the british govt implemented "british clean act". Coal was replaced by other sources of energy. Dry year, monsoons/ rain arrived late than usual, this fire was later extinguished with the monsoon. The fire was out of control, extremely large area was burnt. In 1998, similar event happened again (less extent) Human/ anthropological sources can be divided into 2 categories; stationary and mobile. Could be solids or liquids dispersed in air. Its found that pm(2. 5) is more dangerous, since they can travel further in our breathing system due to small size. These are heavily released in internal combustion in vehicles.
