Environment: everything that affects a living organize (air, water, soil, biota, manmade environment) Environmental health: comprise those aspects of human health, disease and injuries that are determined or influenced by environment (who) o. Both direct and the indirect pathological effect of chemical, biological and physical (man-made: housing, land use, transportation, urban development) 5 core concerns: focus on chemical, physical, biological. Biological: bacteria; viruses, parasite, allergen, animal (bees, poisonous snake) Physical: radiation, fire, tornado, , volcanic eruption, earthquake (are not environmental health hazards but they are natural disasters) Social/behavioural: diet, drug, smoking, poverty (not environmental but the chemical in tobacco smoke are) Genetic trait: health risk associated with chromosomal defect that cause down syndrome are not environmental health hazard. Scope of environment: inside (chemical, biological and physical) in one big box. Outside ( social behavioural, natural disaster, genetic traits)
